Mila is among the most common UPVC locks with some variations being stamped Coldseal or Swiftframe. Some of the full-length versions are still available however the popular 3 part versions have been discontinued. For this reason, the use of a replacement gearbox may be required.

Please note: The gearboxes are now supplied with the screw holes unthreaded so SFS16 screws need to be utilised in order to create a thread to attach the gearbox to the strip.

LATCH ONLY VERSION - DIFFERENCES

You may come across two different versions of the latch only model. The difference between them is the position of the bottom connector and the 4500 series usually being stamped.

RAIL CONNECTOR - DIFFERENCES

Mila cases have two different methods of connecting to the rail, either an offset or an inline central connector.

Offset Link Connector (available from Duffells), Inline Link Connector (unavailable from Duffells)

Offset v Inline

The version Duffells supply has an offset link connector that sits on the left-hand side of the faceplate.
If you are replacing a central link connector with an offset link connector, you will need to modify the rail on the locking strip by opening up the hole to make a notch for the hook to fit into as pictured below.

Mila Rail

Modifying the central link connector on a multipoint rail to be compatible with the offset link in gearbox

Mila rail with central link connector. Dotted line indicates area to cut out of rail.
This is the central link connector after the side has been cut, this allows it to slot over, be careful not to snap the rail when cutting.
Use a grinder or junior hacksaw to cut the notch.
