      These D4 Type spiral balances are light duty, economical, general purpose balances which are perfect for domestic or commercial applications with a sash weight range of 6.8kgs (15lbs) to 13.6kgs (30lbs).

      They are adjustable within their weight range to suit actual glazed sash weights using a special tension adjustment tool. On how to adjust the tension of the spring see FAQ's.

      How do I adjust the tension of the spring on this balance?

      Spring tension is adjusted via the tensioning tool – our part code BALTENTOOL. Once the balance has been fitted onto the sash rotate the tang attachment into the tube anti-clockwise, using the tensioning tool pull the tang attachment downwards about 8” without it rotating.  Now apply adjustment via turning anti-clockwise, the amount of turns will depend on the sash weight.
