How can I tell if my window restrictor is a genuine Jackloc product?

The Jackloc products show the Jackloc branding prominently so that you can be assured that you are purchasing the genuine product.

Only a Jackloc product is made in the UK, guaranteed for 10 years, independently UKAS laboratory tested to exceed all elements of the relevant British Standards and comes with the Jackloc name and logo attached.

What does “tested to 3400 newtons” mean?

This is the weight measurement that our independent testing house uses. The relevant British Standards state that a window restrictor should hold 600 Newtons but we test to exceed this in order to make windows as safe and secure as they can possibly be.

Where can I find fitting instructions?

You will receive Jackloc window restrictor fitting instructions with your Jackloc window lock. You will also find video guidance to assist in your order confirmation email.

How do I measure the 100mm gap opening?

To correctly measure the gap for your window cable lock, open the window before fitting the restrictor.

Measure a gap of 100mm with a measuring device and then position the lock where it’s taut on the frame. You can then mark and drill the pilot holes to achieve a 100mm gap opening. For young children, we recommend only an 89mm gap and using the same methodology.

What to consider when fitting a window restrictor?

The key considerations when fitting a window restrictor are:-

1: The type of window restrictor that’s right for your situation. You can choose from key-operated, push and twist mechanism and permanently locked options.

2: The quality of the window restrictor is critical, so ensure you check that the product has the appropriate British Standards certifications.

3: Check the quality of the window frame. Window restrictors should be fitted to frames that are in good repair with no damage.
